Which way you rowing the rest of your life….

Long Row To Hoe

You ever feel like this? Putting in the daily grind and not really seeing where you’re going? Just keep rowing, we’ll run into something sooner or later. Or we’ll capsize in the sea of daily commitments. Do you even know your neighbor four oars back? Is your conversation, what did you do last night? Go anywhere special? Do anything? Nice boots? Love your boots, where did you get those boots? Each of these men have a vision, a dream. When I get off this oar I’m going to (fill in the blank)________________. Looking ahead, looking behind. I should never have signed up for this job. It’s oaring.

CASTLES IN THE SAND

Castles in the Sand

I don’t know if you ever do this…spend hours and hours on end, planning, shaping, dreaming, building, visualizing, rehearsing, what life will be like….”once we get to shore”…”once we get off this vessel”, “once we run aground”. Like those poor oarsmen above (remember seeing that), just keep paddling…unless you have an oar out of the water. Ever hear that expression…”we think he’s got a oar out of the water”. Where was I going with this? Oh yes, castles in the sand. Making castles in the sand, all is looking good, its the best castle I’ve ever built, what a great floor plan, then whoosh. All gone and back to “Go” on the monopoly board. Seems like most of life ends up like that. Build the most modern home, with all the best gadgets and colors, walk in 50 years later and wrinkle your nose. What a dump. This place needs remodeled. Life is an illusion. Dream on.

POPS

POPS

Now this looks interesting. What is it? We have no idea. It just “popped” up on the street the other night. Just goes to show you anything is possible. Cute and romantic. We’ve walked by this place during the day, only comes out at night….speaking of which.

NIGHSHIFT

Nightshift

This poor guy works so hard at night. You can see he’s exhausted. We thought he was dead as we walked by. Is that a dead cat in the window? No just dead tired. Out hunting all night. Nightshift.

BONUS ROUND

Sweet Dreams

Dreaming of a new mattress and table. No problem. It’s coming to a street near you. First there was ice delivery, then milk on your doorstep (chocolate was my favorite and the little cardboard pull tabs), and I think the bread man came by. Anyway the mattress guy now delivers to your home, whether you ordered in advance or not. Just walk out and buy one. Life still comes to you here in Mexico. Personal goods delivered to your door. Now we receive things in boxes from Amazon delivered by FedEx and UPS.

GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK

Good Night and Good Luck

Well thats a wrap for this week. As always, if you have a comment leave it. If you enjoy the blog, share it. Until next week, be gentle with yourself and others, and remember to keep both your oars in the water.

  1. Is that one of those sacrifice edifices where the head rolls down…the next contender walks in at the bottom with internal stairs to the top? Eek but lovely touch with the feathers. Oh to be warm enough to get out for an evening stroll and discover a popup drinks place…..enjoy!

    1. Thanks for your comment Kathy – you’ll be warming up soon enough and out for the evening stroll. Yogi. I totally missed the feathers. Story of my life.

  2. Great photos, Yogi, on this blog!
    Enjoyed your comments too!
There are days when both of my oars are out of the water!😳

    1. Thanks Brother – I’m glad to hear you’ve misplaced your oars a time or two. I’m thinking of buying backup oars. Yogi
