In Transit…just passing through…

I’ve really got to get a life…and am running out of candle wax or sand in the hourglass. ⌛️ My last post was one year ago. Come on…I can do better than that…can’t I..? Especially when I get the annual billing for having this blog of mine which produces $0 income and is an expense. So why not just fold my tent and move on? Good question. Always hanging on…to people places and things.

So I’ve vowed to “use it or lose it”…and decided my thoughts are too precious to let just drift by without pulling to shore. Besides, this is First Cup of Inspiration…so therefore my goal is to inspire, not perspire or expire. Hmm. 🤔 Up to me. The choice is mine.

So let’s take a step back in time. My self defense coach Blauer calls it a “look back”. Take a look back over your life and time, and see where you’ve come from and whats transpired. Little GTO, you’re really looking fine. 3 dueces and a 4 speed in a 389 “Ronny and the Daytonas” released 1964.

November 1966. So here I am a hotshot 15 year old, looking to get ahead in life. See an ad in the Rocky Mountain News…now hiring…”hotshot kids to travel and get paid”. Ha…that’s me. So I sign up and find myself on a paid flight from Denver to St. Louis, thinking “ain’t I something”. Come to find out I’ve signed on to sell magazines door to door with a traveling troupe. On arrival I was expecting to be shown to my private suite, which turned out to be a youth hostel dormitory style. Ish. Don’t they know who I am? Not what I was expecting nor had in mind. The company provided $3.00 per day pay plus lodging. That per diem would purchase 1-2 packs of cigarettes and two visits to McDonalds. Perfect salary for a high rolling 15 year old.

So how did it all turn out? Well first you must learn the “pitch”. What you say after you’ve knocked on the door to Mr or Mrs Homeowner. “Hey…I’m working my way through college in a foreign country..and you could really help me out purchasing one of these lovely magazines.” Lies, lies, it’s all lies. The response I received…”go away kid, you bother me”. So what happens to the hotshot kid?
